wakili.sha – WHAT WE DO
ACCESS TO EDUCATION…
Access to education, mentorship, talent and skills development
Soon after Wakili.sha started operating, it became apparent that providing legal aid was not enough. Majority of children in conflict with the law are victims of exploitation, neglect and abuse. They require psychosocial support just as much as they do legal aid. Further, despite the constitutional right to education and being granted bail on the grounds that the child should be in school, schools often turn children in conflict with the law away due to the false negative percepton that they are simply troublesome.
We provide and facilitate peer mentorship, professional psychosocial support, talent nurturing and skills development training. Through these, we provide the necessary soft and hard skills to aid reintegration and increase youth employability. This fosters rehabilitative justice and reduces recidivism. Furthermore, this is Wakili.sha’s sustainability arm.
